Training room requirements for training courses provided at your location

When Ascent Technology provides training courses at your location, Ascent Technology bases course content on your specific product configuration, hardware and software platform, knowledge base, business rules, data, and operational procedures.

To avoid distractions and disruptions, we ask that the training area be quiet and separate from areas in which other activities occur. When trainees are interrupted by co-workers and normal business activities, it may be difficult to concentrate and to learn.

Requirements for seminar-style courses. Ascent Technology requires a room or meeting area equipped with the following items:

  • A whiteboard, blackboard, or flip chart
  • A projection screen and a projector capable of accepting 1280 by 1024 computer video input
  • A table on which the trainer can place his or her laptop PC and the projector
  • A chair for each trainer
  • A chair for each attendee, positioned so that each attendee can see both the projection screen and the whiteboard (or blackboard or flip chart)
  • Workstations or devices for hands-on practice, if applicable.

The training room should be available to Ascent Technology trainers a few hours prior to the start of the training session.

Requirements for small-group courses. Ascent Technology requires a room or meeting area equipped with the following items:

  • A whiteboard, blackboard, or flip chart
  • A projection screen and a projector capable of accepting 1280 by 1024 computer input
  • A table on which the trainer can place his or her laptop PC and a projector
  • A chair for each trainer
  • A desk or table and a chair for each trainee, positioned so each trainee can see both the projection screen and the whiteboard (or blackboard or flip chart)
  • If cell phone service is not available at the training location, a telephone that accepts outgoing calls to and incoming calls from Cambridge, MA, USA
  • One workstation for each trainee, configured for use exactly like the workstations used in the production environment:
    • If you acquire Ascent Technology products via a traditional software license, load each training workstation with software identical to the software used in the production environment and connect it to the database server that contains the ARIS/SmartBase database and the incoming data feeds used in actual operations. Connect the ARIS/SmartBase database server and the trainee workstations to the virtual private network (VPN), or other connectivity mechanism through which Ascent Technology remotely supports your production environment.
    • If you gain access to Ascent Technology products via a hosted software subscription, connect each workstation to Ascent Technology's hosting facility via a secure Internet connection.

The training-room workstations and server should be operational at least three days prior to the start of training, so Ascent Technology's technical staff can ensure that the hardware and software are operating properly.
