Ascent Technology training room and other requirements for courses provided at a customer location
When Ascent Technology provides training courses at a customer's training facility, Ascent Technology bases course content on the customer's specific product configuration, hardware and software platform, and operational procedures.
Requirements for seminar-style courses. Ascent Technology requires a room or meeting area equipped with the following items:
- A whiteboard, blackboard, or flip chart
- A projection screen and a projector capable of accepting 1280 by 1024 computer video input
- A table on which the trainer can place his or her laptop PC and the projector
- A chair for each trainer
- A chair for each attendee, positioned so that the attendees can see both the projection screen and the whiteboard (or blackboard or flip chart)
- A few workstations or devices workers can use for hands-on practice.
The training room should be available to Ascent Technology trainers a few hours prior to the start of the training session.
Requirements for small-group courses. Ascent Technology requires a room or meeting area equipped with the following items:
- A whiteboard, blackboard, or flip chart
- A projection screen and a projector capable of accepting 1280 by 1024 computer input
- A table on which the trainer can place his or her laptop PC and a projector
- A chair for each trainer
- A desk or table and a chair for each trainee, positioned so that trainees can see both the projection screen and the whiteboard (or blackboard or flip chart)
- If cell phone service is not available at the training location, a telephone that accepts outgoing calls to and incoming calls from Cambridge, MA, USA
- One workstation for each trainee, configured for use just as the
workstations that will be used in the production environment:
- If you are acquiring the Ascent Technology products via traditional software license, then each training workstation must be loaded with software identical to the software that will be used in the production environment and connected to the database server that contains the ARIS/SmartBase database and the incoming datafeeds that will be used in actual operations. The ARIS/SmartBase database server and the trainee workstations must be connected to the virtual private network (VPN), or other connectivity mechanism through which Ascent Technology will support your production environment remotely.
- If you are gaining access to the Ascent Technology products via a hosted software-as-a-service agreement, then each workstation must be connected to Ascent Technology's hosting facility via a secure Internet connection.
The training-room workstations and server should be operational at least three days prior to the start of training, so Ascent Technology's technical staff can ensure that the hardware and software are operating properly.
To avoid distractions and disruptions, the training room should be quiet and separate from the area in which other activities occur. When trainees are interrupted by co-workers and normal business activities, it is difficult to conduct training courses.
