Ascent Technology's headquarters is located in Cambridge, MA

Ascent Technology's main office is located in Building 200 of One Kendall Square, the former site of the Boston Woven Hose and Rubber Company, near the intersection of Hampshire Street and Broadway in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA, at the northern edge of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus.

Ascent Technology is a short walk from the Kendall/MIT station on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Red Line.

Public parking is available for a fee in the One Kendall Square Garage, which is entered from Binney Street.

How to get to Ascent Technology from Logan International Airport

Because of traffic congestion and scarce parking, we recommend you take a taxi or use public transportation to get to Ascent Technology from Logan International Airport.

By taxi

Designated taxi stands are located outside each terminal at Logan International Airport. Ask the taxi driver to take you to One Kendall Square in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Taxi fare to Ascent Technology is approximately $40.00, plus a 15% tip; travel time is approximately 25 minutes. Many, but not all, taxis accept major credit cards.

By limousine

Limousine service is available at Logan International Airport by advance reservation. We recommend you use Boston Coach (+1.800.672.7676; +1.617.387.7676), which provides service using executive sedans. When you make your reservation, you will be told where to find your driver in the designated limousine zones located outside each terminal. The fare to Ascent Technology is approximately $70, including tolls and tip, for an executive sedan. Travel time is approximately 25 minutes. Boston Coach accepts major credit cards.

By public transportation

Take the Silver Line bus, which stops outside all terminals, to South Station. At South Station, change to the Red Line train going toward Alewife Station. Get off the Red Line train at the Kendall/MIT station, which is four stops from South Station. To exit the Kendall/MIT station, take the stairs or escalator near the ticket sales machines to the Marriott Hotel courtyard. With the Marriott Hotel on your right, walk down Main Street to the end of the block (Legal Seafoods is on the corner) and turn right on Ames Street. Walk one block to Broadway (Ames Street ends at Broadway). Cross Broadway and turn left. Continue to walk down Broadway, crossing Galileo Gallilei Way and the railroad tracks, and then bear right on Hampshire Street. You will see One Kendall Square on your right, just after you bear right on Hampshire Street. Ascent Technology's main office is located on the fourth floor of Building 200, facing Hampshire Street. Travel time to the Kendall/MIT station is approximately 30 minutes, and walking time from the Kendall/MIT station is approximately ten minutes.

Alternatively, take the airport shuttle bus, which stops outside all terminals, to the Logan Airport MBTA station. Then, take the Blue Line train inbound to the Government Center MBTA station, go upstairs and change to the Green Line train inbound to the Park Street MBTA station, which is one stop away. At Park Street, go downstairs and change to the Red Line train outbound to the Kendall/MIT station, which is two stops away. To exit the Kendall/MIT station, take the stairs or escalator near the ticket sales machines to the Marriott Hotel courtyard. With the Marriott Hotel on your right, walk down Main Street to the end of the block (Legal Seafoods is on the corner) and turn right on Ames Street. Walk one block to Broadway (Ames Street ends at Broadway). Cross Broadway and turn left. Continue to walk down Broadway, crossing Galileo Galilei Way and the railroad tracks, and then bear right on Hampshire Street. By car

From the airport, follow the signs to Boston via the Sumner Tunnel/Boston/Route 93 (3) North. There is a toll to use the tunnel. When you exit the tunnel, take Rte 93 (3) North. Take the second exit on the right to Storrow Drive/Cambridge. Stay in the left lane, and take the Kendall Square/Government Center exit, which is an up-ramp, now staying in the right lane. At the top of the ramp, turn right toward Kendall Square and go over the Longfellow Bridge into Cambridge. You will be on Main Street, which becomes Broadway at the first traffic signal at the corner of Third Street. Continue on Broadway until you reach Hampshire Street, which is the first street after you cross the railroad tracks. Bear right on Hampshire Street. One Kendall Square is on your right, just after you bear right on Hampshire Street. To reach the One Kendall Square parking garage, take the next right onto Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, and then take the next right onto Binney Street. The One Kendall Square parking garage is part way down the block on the left. Ascent Technology's main office is located on the fourth floor of Building 200, facing Hampshire Street.

Driving directions from the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90) to Ascent Technology

Take the Allston/Cambridge exit (exit 18) from the Massachusetts Turnpike, which exits from the left lane. Go through the toll booth and bear right toward Cambridge/Somerville. The exit ramp ends at Cambridge Street, in front of the River Street Bridge over the Charles River, which divides Boston from Cambridge. (Cambridge Street becomes River Street at the Boston/Cambridge line.)

Following the signs to Cambridge, cross the River Street Bridge into Cambridge. On the bridge, stay in the right lane. At the end of the River Street Bridge, turn right on Memorial Drive East, the parkway that runs parallel to the Charles River. The river will be to your right.

In approximately 3/4 of a mile, just past a sign warning trucks about low clearance, Memorial Drive climbs to an overpass, with a lane splitting off to the right. Continue straight on Memorial Drive over the overpass, and then through an underpass (under Massachusetts Avenue), changing to the left lane immediately after the underpass. Turn left onto Ames Street, and at the second set of lights, turn left onto Broadway. Continue on Broadway until you reach Hampshire Street, which is the first street after you cross the railroad tracks. Bear right on Hampshire Street. One Kendall Square is on your right, just after you bear right on Hampshire Street. To reach the One Kendall Square parking garage, take the next right onto Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, and then take the next right onto Binney Street. The One Kendall Square parking garage is part way down the block on the left. Ascent Technology's main office is located on the fourth floor of Building 200, facing Hampshire Street.

Where to park when you visit Ascent Technology

Public parking in Cambridge is limited and expensive.

There are metered parking spaces with one-hour limits on Binney Street and with two-hour limits on Fulkerson Street. The meters take quarters.

The One Kendall Square Garage, which provides parking for a fee, is located on Binney Street. It is a two-minute walk from our front door, which is on the fourth floor of Building 200.

It may be impossible to book accommodations nearby on short notice in early June when MIT holds Commencement ceremonies and in mid-October when MIT hosts Family Weekend.

Both Ascent Technology and Ascent Technology's visitors highly recommend The Kendall Hotel, a boutique hotel in the renovated 19th century Kendall Square fire house. The Kendall Hotel is small and slightly quirky, with the delightfully cozy Black Sheep Restaurant and Bar. It offers a country-inn atmosphere, personal service, and a complimentary buffet breakfast for hotel guests. The Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel and a branch of the area's leading seafood restaurant, Legal Seafoods, are across the street. It is a ten-minute walk to Ascent Technology.

The Boston Marriott Hotel Cambridge, the 431-room full-service hotel located in Kendall Square, is a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology. It has restaurants, lounges, and a Starbucks Coffee store. A branch of the area's leading seafood restaurant, Legal Seafoods, is next door.

For longer stays, we recommend the Marriott Residence Inn, an extended-stay hotel located about three blocks from Ascent Technology. It has 220 suites with living and sleeping areas and fully equipped kitchens. It offers a complimentary buffet breakfast to hotel guests, and there is a Starbucks Coffee store just around the corner. The Residence Inn is a six-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

The Le Meridien Hotel is a comfortable, contemporary hotel for business travellers. Each guest room has a dual-line phone and dataport. Good food really close by

From early morning through late afternoon, you will find a few of us at BeanTowne Coffee House & Cafe, the cozy coffee shop on the first floor of our building. You'll also find a wide variety of delicious croissants, muffins, scones, sandwiches, wraps, soups, sweets, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea served by the some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Flat Top Johnny's. Building 200, One Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA 02139. +1.617.494.9565.

Flat Top Johnny's is a pub and pool hall on the first floor of our building. We enjoy going there for drinks, snacks, and a game of pool after work.

When we are in the mood for great food and conversation, we head to The Blue Room, in the lower level of our building. At lunchtime in good weather, the chefs open the grill on the patio, and we can pretend we are on vacation, not at work, at least for a little while. In the winter, the dining room is one of the coziest, most comfortable places we know of, especially when the snow is piling up outside the windows.

Tommy Doyle's, offers all sorts of pub food, as well as complete lunches and dinners. It gets a bit noisy on the nights the DJ is there, which makes it all the more fun. There is patio seating in the good weather.

The Cambridge Brewing Company, the oldest brewery-restaurant in the area, specializes in matching creative American cuisine with freshly-brewed beers. There is a pleasant, sheltered seating area at the tables in the courtyard, which we love to occupy at lunch time during the warmer months.

The Friendly Toast is a quirky, retro-style diner that serves comfort food, including all manner of terrific stick-to-your-ribs pancakes, waffles, omelets, sandwiches, burgers, and sides. The drinks are fun, too. What more could you ask for?

Emma's Pizza, a tiny pizzeria across the street from our offices, makes some of the best pizza in the metropolitan area. The crust is super thin, and there are dozens of toppings to choose from. Emma's also serves great salads and sandwiches.

Hungry Mother, just around the corner from our offices, serves Southern-style food prepared with classical French technique. It's small and popular, so be sure to reserve a table well in advance.

Area Four is our favorite early-morning place to pick up croissants (the best in the area!), pastries, and coffee on the way to the office. Lunch and dinner are great, too: a variety of salads and sandwiches, as well as delicious pizzas, meat, seafood, and vegetables all roasted in wood-fired ovens and served directly "oven to table". The bakery, restaurant, and bar menus feature local, organic, and sustainable ingredients. It's about a five-minute walk from our office.

MexiCali serves burritos, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and nachos with a variety of meat and vegetable fillings, as well as quacamole and chips. The salsa will knock your socks off. It's about a five-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Although it can be expensive, noisy, and rushed, Legal Sea Foods is our favorite full-service restaurant for seafood. The chowder is outstanding, and the fish is the freshest you'll find anywhere. It is next to the Boston Marriott Hotel Cambridge, about a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Sebastians. 7 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA 02142.

Sebastians offers an enormous variety of healthy salads, pasta, rice bowls, and crepes made to order, as well as breakfast pastries, sandwiches, and gelati. Sebastians does a huge take-out business, and there are plenty of tables inside. Sebastian's is a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Meadhall, an enormous, upscale beer hall about a 10-minute walk from Ascent Technology, offers more than 100 beers and ales and great pub food. It's a great place to gather after work.

We go to Au Bon Pain, in the center of Kendall Square, for coffee, croissants, muffins, soups, salads, and sandwiches. There are many tables with free Wi-Fi inside and, in good weather, a few tables on the sidewalk outside. It's about a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

The Food Court. 3 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA 02142-1607.

The FoodCourt at 3 Cambridge Center, between the MIT Coop and the Boston Marriott Hotel Cambridge, offers American, Asian, and Italian take-out food from a variety of small food shops, as well as another branch of Au Bon Pain. There are indoor tables and outdoor tables. When the weather is pleasant, it's fun to eat in the rooftop garden on top of the adjacent parking garage. It's a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Rebecca's Cafe features an ever-changing and always delicious selection of breakfast pastries, sandwiches, hot luncheon entrees, and desserts. There are a few self-service tables inside. Rebecca's is in the center of Kendall Square, a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Cosi offers a wide variety of breakfast items and sandwiches on bread baked right in front of you and dinner entrees at night. It also offers free wireless Internet access, which makes it quite popular. There are several self-service tables inside and a few tables on the sidewalk in good weather. It's a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

The MIT Food Trucks. Carlton Street, behind the Kendall/MIT MBTA station, by the entrance to MIT Medical, Cambridge, MA 02139.

The food trucks that park on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus (just off Main Street, approximately two blocks from Ascent Technology) offer inexpensive Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and vegetarian foods at lunchtime. The food trucks are an MIT institution, and, just in case you wondered, MIT makes the vendors adhere to strict hygiene standards. The trucks are a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Salts Restaurant is the first place we think of when we want to celebrate a special occasion with someone who enjoys eating well. The food is innovative, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. Salts Restaurant, open only for dinner, is very small; it is essential to reserve a table well in advance. It's a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Bertucci's has unbeatable brick-oven-fired pizza, as well as salads and pasta. Better yet, they deliver! It's a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Craigie on Main, and its chef/owner Tony Maws, have received terrific reviews and have won just about every award you can think of. The menu changes daily; the food is always seasonal, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance. It's a ten-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Good food a short walk away

Mary Chung has been a favorite hang-out for MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory hackers since the '70s. We believe it still has some of the best Mandarin and Szechuan food around. Bring cash; they don't take credit cards. It's a 15-minute walk from Ascent Technology.

Miracle of Science Bar and Grill. 321 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02139. +1.617.868.2866.

We like to meet our friends from MIT at the Miracle of Science for great burgers, drinks, and loud music here after work. You'll love the chemistry class decor. It's a 15-minute walk along the northern edge of the MIT campus from Ascent Technology.

Helmand is so warm and inviting, you may never want to leave. The food is delightful, with many fresh Afghani vegetarian dishes and lamb and beef kebabs and stews. Best of all, a baker makes delicious, aromatic flat bread in a wood-fired oven at the side of the main dining room throughout dinner. A 15-minute walk from Ascent Technology, Helmand is open only for dinner.

Cambridgeside Galleria. 100 Cambridgeside Place, Cambridge, MA 02141.

The Cambridgeside Galleria offers several options for eating. There are three full-service restaurants—the California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, and P.F. Chang's China Bistro—in the mall, and several take-out places in the Food Court. You can reach the Cambridgeside Galleria on foot from Ascent Technology in about 20 minutes or via the free Cambridgeside Galleria shuttle bus which stops in front of the Boston Marriott Hotel Cambridge.
